Can there really be anything more stressful than dating? While some would mention a few other things that are more stressful, the reality is that there are some truths to the level of stress that people go through when they start out dating. The pressure comes from the fact that just about everyone wants to be with someone that is successful and attractive, since these are two things that will lead to a better life for the children we hope to have someday.

One solution that many people pursue when they’re trying to get a really good date is that they try to lie to the person they’re about to date, or the one that they’re dating currently. There are even some less-than-honest guides out there that tell people it’s better to lie a little bit when you’re trying to get to know each other than to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth…and end up being rejected for it.

So, who’s actually right on this topic? Well, the reality is that truth is certainly better than fiction, and if you’re trying to really get someone to like you, do you really want them to fall in love with a character in a story? When you lie about the core of who you are, you turn yourself into a character in a story rather than being the person you deserve to be.

It’s something that will end up costing you the relationship you’ve always wanted when the other person finds out that you’ve lied about so many things about yourself.

In addition, it’s better to not lie to the person you are dating because you end up having to make a full time job out of getting your lies straight and trying to remember everything that you’ve said. Over time, little inconsistencies will arise in your story that will end up making your real secret come out, and who wants to deal with that?

While the argument can be made that you will be rejected if you don’t lie, the truth is that sometimes relationships just aren’t made to actually work out. Therefore, it’s better to start out honest and then you won’t have to worry about keeping your story straight or anything like that.

So, what does that mean for dating? Well, in a nutshell, when it comes to love and romance, honesty really is the best policy!
